Introduction to LeaP-Quest "Current Electricity"

You may have seen any monthly/quarterly electricity bill for your home and may also have noticed that sometimes the bill is high and sometimes it's low. There are also some appliances which have a sticker with stars on them. Let's explore how the electricity is calculated and the different important aspects considered while calculating the bill.

Problem Statements of the LeaP-Quest

Problem Statement - 1

You have been notified by the Electricity Department that there will be a shortage of electricity next month and have asked you to let them know the amount of electricity required. Use Spreadsheet/Excel to create the hourly usage plan of the required electrical appliances for minimal consumption of electricity and also calculate the expected electricity bill if your plan is followed.

Problem Statement -

You are on a tight budget but notice that your electricity bill has been increasing in some months. Take the past 1 year bills and create a graph to notice the increase/decrease. Identify the reasons behind the increase and come up with a plan on how to reduce the bill next month and predict the bill amount.

 Problem Statement - 3

You notice that the electricity bill this month has directly doubled in price. You know something is fishy so you ask your neighbours and notice that everyone has the same complaint. Upon complaining to the higher authorities, you realize that this is a case of electricity theft like the below mentioned case. Provide a solution for cases like these.

Design a solution for the problem and explain the same by creating a prototype/ through a diagram.

 Problem Statement - 5

When we use any stairs where there is less or no light available then we turn on the light and go to next floor, but that light remains turned on until some one comes down the stairs to turn it off. This results in wastage of Electricity, Hence design a solution or model to avoid this kind of wastage of electricity.
